Best Teleprompter Apps for Android
1. Simple teleprompter
Simple Teleprompter gives you an experience of using an actual teleprompter. When you open the app for the first time, all you see is a white screen with a button to ‘create a new document’. Pressing that button gives you two option – import your script from Phone’s internal storage or paste it directly to the editor.
The editor has three buttons in total: Delete, Save/Start, and Settings. Tapping delete would erase your loaded script from the app, Settings gives you options like mirror text, adjust font size, line spacing and orientation. You can check the auto start option which automatically starts the prompt once you press the start button. Scroll speed has 10 levels and you can choose according to your comfort level. The prompt itself works smoothly and can be scrolled back if you fall behind or need to rush through. With Simple Teleprompter, however, you can’t adjust the size and speed while it’s running for that feature we have the next app in line.

2. Prompster
Prompster is yet another teleprompter app optimized for Android phones and tablets. It is best for reciting speech and deliver in front of a camera. You can copy and edit your scripts on the onboard editor in the app. It accepts text files as import and you can add multiple scripts at once. Once you move to the prompt screen, it shows you a few control buttons on the bottom.
Starting from the left you get the buttons to control the size of the text and speed adjustment buttons on the right. Start button lies in the center. The best part is that you can adjust the size and speed during the run of the prompt which makes it easier to control and adjust according to the natural flow of the Speaker. It also keeps track of the elapsed time giving you another cue and you can share your speech files easily with Email. However, this app doesn’t have a highlighter marker to assist while reading and for that so we move to the next app in the list.

3. Parrot Teleprompter
Parrot teleprompters are famous around the world and offer great products. They recently developed the app to go along with their accessories and even replace other teleprompters. The app is developed by experienced players and makes sure all the essential features are present. You can edit the scripts by pasting it in the editor or connect your Dropbox to sync your files automatically (txt). The scripts are listed in the scripts window and tapping on the title loads the prompt screen in the landscape position which you can lock for more accuracy. It shows you elapsed time and a play button in the middle.
The settings page has the necessary options like text size and speed. You can adjust the margins and enable the mirror mode
Toggle marker is very thoughtful which gives you a cue of the position in the script. Font color and background can be changed for optimum contrast and you can do this while the prompt is running so you don’t waste any time.
Adjusts Speed and Text size – Yes
Adjustable text area – No
Inbuilt Video recorder – No

4. PromptSmart Pro
PromptSmart pro is the priciest($19) teleprompter app in this list with an amazing feature VoiceTrack, which we’ll discuss in a minute. The app’s layout is minimalistic and you can import your scripts from the cloud as well unlike the previous apps in the list.
You get all the standard features like speed adjustment, mirroring, plus you get split screen option which makes it easy to record your videos with a teleprompter. You can use any app to record yourself delivering the lines with the highlighted marker which lets you keep track of the text.
The margins can be set to as close to the edge keeping eye movements to a minimum, therefore, maintaining the illusion that you’re delivering the lines naturally.
If you choose to enable VoiceTrack in the settings, the app would ask to record your voice because the algorithm detects speech and scrolls the script as you read. It pauses the prompt as you stop to take a breath and continues from the position where it left. No other app has implemented this feature and it alone sets it apart in the list.
This feature though great is still quite expensive at $19. I would recommend this app only if you wish for a smart assisted Teleprompter which stops as you take a pause and makes the whole procedure more natural. However, you can’t record a video using your camera while using this app. The next app in the list gets rid of this problem rather intuitively.

Oratory lets you edit and highlight important parts of the script in the app and save it on the app itself. The opacity, font color, and the background color can be changed according to your comfort. Once you’re done you can press the Run button on the bottom. The widget pops up from the app and you can resize and even use it in the landscape mode(only if your camera supports landscape recording ). You can use your phone and record while the teleprompter plays over the camera app. The recommended position while placing the widget on screen is closest to the camera so that when you’re reading the lines your eye movement can be reduced to a minimum.

You can adjust the size of the teleprompter window if it obstructs the view. Although its translucent and blends in the UI.

Which is the best Teleprompter App?
If you want an inbuilt video recorder with your teleprompter app, Selvi and Bigvu work great. Although Oratory Teleprompter does not have an inbuilt recording feature, it does, however, allow you to use the widget feature to run the teleprompter. Standalone teleprompter apps work great and Parrot has all the necessary features of a teleprompter.

Did you know you could use your iPad as a productivity device? That it’s not just for entertainment and reading? You did? Oh. You must be a Guiding Tech subscriber then.
All kidding aside, even 4 years after its release, the “iPad is a luxury device” thinking just won’t go way. Sure it’s not as productive as a laptop. But then again it’s not meant to be. Which is why it doesn’t come with a keyboard. Although attaching a Bluetooth keyboard to the iPad does work wonders.
But I’m straying from the point. iPads, being iPads, can do things laptops and phones cannot. For instance, today we’ll learn how you can turn your iPad into a teleprompter complete with user controlled scrolling speed, external display support and even a mirroring feature for true pros.
Where Can This Teleprompter App Be Useful?
Any time you want to show some text across the hall to someone. The text doesn’t have to scroll, it can serve as a note as well.
Of course a teleprompter can be used in any event that involves public speaking. It can be the rehearsal for your kindergartner’s first school event, to hosting the biggest debate competition in the state, to an actual TV show (or maybe a YouTube video).
The possibilities are endless.
Teleprompting for pros: For pros who don’t want to spend thousands of dollars on teleprompting equipment, there exist slightly cheaper options. For under a thousand dollars you can get iPad compatible equipment. All you need to do is launch the apps, turn on the mirroring mode, and slide in the iPad.
iPrompt Pro
iPrompt Pro’s design hasn’t been updated since iOS 6 but that crime is easy to forgive after taking a look at its features.
On the left pane you’ll see a lot of settings. From here you can change the font, font color, size, and the background color to suit your needs.
When it comes to prompter settings we have orientation mode, scrolling speed, an external display connector, and a Mirrored display option for the pros.
Tap the + button on the top right, paste in the text from your paper or script, and give it a title. To start playing a file, tap the Share button and select Start. The playback will take up the entire screen and you can tap once on the screen to pause it or tap twice for options (and to exit).
iPrompt Pro is a free app but you’ll have to sit through an ad for teleprompter remote controls the app maker sells. There’s also a prompt that verifies you’re not using a remote every time you start playing. To get rid of that, change the Remote Type in the settings to None.
LCD4Video
LCD4Video is a very simple app. All you need to do is paste in your script and tap the Start button to get going. From the toolbar at the top you can change scrolling speed, text size, and start delay. Use the Refresh type button next to the Done button to use the mirroring mode.
The great thing about LCD4Video is that you can edit the text while it is scrolling.
iPrompt Pro vs LCD4Video: Which Is For You?
iPrompt Pro, as the title suggests, has a lot more features and gives you more control over the playback, including font adjustment, while LCD4Video does not.
iPrompt Pro also has great document management so if you have more than a couple of documents, iPrompt Pro is the easy choice.
LCD4Video is for beginners or for people who want a simple app to use one or two times.
